PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION - GRADES 1-8

Children in grades one through eight who attend public schools or non-Catholic private schools participate in our Parish School of Religion. Classes are held in the school building on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 7:45 pm, September through May.  When there is a short or long-term need, parents are offered the option to home-school their children using weekly lessons from our religion book series, Pflaum Gospel Weeklies and completing the associated assessment. The home-school option, whether long or short term, requires a meeting with the Director of Religious Education.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Children's Liturgy of the Word is a parish-based program which seeks "to develop in...children an appreciation of the word of God." (Directory for Masses With Children, 14) This is accomplished by gathering the children separately from the adults during occasional Sunday Masses and using simplified Scripture texts and interactive preaching directed at increasing an understanding of the scriptures in children ages four through second grade.

At St. Francis of Assisi Children's Liturgy is offered during regular weekend Masses, September through May, at one or more weekend liturgies.

For more information, please contact Meg Zetzer at (440) 449-7880 or the Parish Office at (440) 461-0066.

We are working to re-establish Children's Litrugy of the Word. If you are interested in hearing more about the volunteer opportunities relating to this ministry, please contact Meg Zetzer. See volunteer Sign-up Form below.

LIFE TEEN

Youth Ministry is an opportunity for high school students to deepen their friendship with Jesus Christ in a unique environment that blends catechetical learning with interactive and social activities. The aim of youth ministry is to further one’s understanding of Jesus as a personal God who truly loves us unconditionally, thus leading to conversion and the sharing of that encounter with others.
